CEBU CITY, Philippines - The
Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu City welcomed the ordinance that the City
Council will shoulder the contributions of the student during the graduation
ceremony each year.
DepEd through Dr. Danilo Gudelosao,
Supervisor Education Program, asked the council during the public hearing
yesterday that elicited P250 will be available in the Cebu City Government for
every student graduating elementary and high school.
Councilor Alvin Dizon, who created
the ordinance believed that his fellow councilors would not oppose the
request of the Department of Education because the students will benefit on
it.
Dizon said that it will be introduced
as part of the upcoming final deliberation of the ordinance.
He explained that his fellow
councilors worried as to how to implement the program in the city, however, he
made it clear that the school board will be the one to shape the implementing
rules and regulations.
